Extinguishing Media

This material is considered a "Class A"
type combustible material. Use water,
foam, or dry chemical to extinguish.

Fire Hazards

Combustible in presence of open flame.

Protective Clothing

Fire fighting requires the use of a self
contained breathing apparatus with a full
face piece and pressure-demand or other
positive-pressure mode.

Unusual Fire and Explosion Hazards

Finely divided dust generated by sawing,
sanding, or similar operations can create
an explosion hazard if contacted with an
ignition source.

N/A

Hazadous Decomposition or Byproducts

Thermal decomposition may release toxic and/or hazardous gases.

Hazardous Polymerization

Will not occur.

Conditions to Avoid

Avoid exposure to open flame.

SECTION VI - HEALTH HAZARD DATA

Routes of Entry

Potential routes of exposure are inhalation as well as skin and eye contact.

Health Hazards (Acute and Chronic)

Dust from cutting or sanding operations may cause irritation to the eyes, respiratory system, and skin. Any sharp edge will cut or abrade the skin.

OSHA Regulated

No

Signs and Symptoms of Exposure

Skin inflamation is characterized by itching and reddening. Inflammation of the eye is characterized by redness, watering, and itching.

Medical Conditions Generally
Aggravated by Exposure

Repeated or prolonged inhalation of dust may lead to chronic respiratory irritation. Asthmatic conditions may be aggravated by uncontrolled airborne dust exposures.

Emergency and First Aid Procedures

Eye Contact: Wash eyes immediately with large amounts of water. If irritation persists, seek medical attention.
Ingestion: treat symptomatically and supportively if dust is ingested.
Skin Contact: dust particles may cause skin sensitization. Wash affected area with soap and water to remove residual dust.
Inhalation: remove from exposure to fresh
air immediately.

SECTION VII - PRECAUTIONS FOR SAFE HANDLING AND USE

Steps to be Taken in Case Material is Released or Spilled

Pick up solids and put in appropriate container for disposal.

Federal Disposal Method

This material is a non-hazardous waste. Dispose of material according to applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

Precautions to be Taken in Handling and Storing

Store in a dry, well ventilated area. Small amounts of residual formaldehyde may be released in measurable quantities when laminate is shipped or stored in bulk quantities.

SECTION VIII - CONTROL MEASURES

Respiratory Protection

When ventilation is inadequate, wear approved respirators following requirements found in OSHA's respirator standard 29 CFR 1910.134 and ANSI's standard A88.2-1992 for respirator protection.

Ventilation

Provide adequate general and local exhaust ventilation to maintain airborne concentrations below the exposure limits.

Protective Gloves

Gloves suitable for protection against cuts from rough, sharp edges and from dust are recommended.

Eye Protection

Wear ANSI-approved safety glasses or goggles in fabrication operations that may generate airborne dust.

Other Protective Clothing or Equipment

No special protective clothing is required.

Work/Hygienic Practices

To prevent drying of skin, wear gloves during exposure to dust or frequently wash hands to remove residual dust. Use hand lotion to moisten hands.
